If the test did not load check the following:-

  • Do you have speakers? You need them. Check that they are switched on.
  • Are pop-ups enabled? Check that pop-ups are enabled (the test runs in a pop-up window which some PCs suppress).
  • Are you on a slow (dial up) connection? The connection may be too slow to download the test in the time available. We will need to carry out the assessment in another way; please contact us.
  • Does the media (sound) player window cover the typing window? This set up is particular to your PC and we will need to carry out the assessment in another way; please contact us.
  • Do you have a Java compatible browser? The typing test needs a Java 1.1 compatible browser, like Internet Explorer 4.0 or newer or Netscape Navigator 4.06 or newer. If you have an older browser, you can install a newer version to get Java support.
  • Do you have Java enabled? Your security settings may prevent Java applets from loading. To set the proper security preferences in Internet Explorer, click on Tools > Internet Options and click on the Security tab. Select the Internet zone and click on the Default Level button and click
  • Do you have Java installed? If you do not have Java installed, you can download the latest version of Java from java.sun.com.
